We looked at Style Words + Digital Comps. Due date is being pushed back to November. Also fixed the “Categories” on the Blog Posts to be more consistent.

1) Color scheme. Colored boxes with labels of hex values in a JPEG-file. Post on Blog.
Also show relation of colors in terms of hierarchy.
2) Digital Comp (1st Draft; if approved).
Homework for Oct. 13th
1) The OVC Class website done:
-All 6 HTML pages
-Content added (images and text)
-CSS styles applied
2) 1 to INFINITY wireframes of your own OVC website design. (Project #1)
3) 10 to 25 ideas (thumbnails) for your own OVC website design. (Project #1)
-Thumbnails need to be understandable (I.E. don’t make them so small we cannot visually understand them)
-Around 3 inches square

1) Ten (10) websites (maximum) of great or awesome design (not just good).
2) Must be CSS/HTML websites; *NO* Flash.
3) Three (3) websites (minimum) of what style(s) you think your design is going to (aspire) to be. (“family” or genre of websites that visually go together).
4) Screenshots of all websites found. Upload them to Flickr/Picasa/ or something similar. Email me your account.
5) Trace three (3) websites’ wireframes (maximum). Use trace paper over printed screenshots of your 10 awesome websites.

Discussed a handout that explained a lot of general HTML syntax and file terms (JPG, GIF, Lossy vs Loss-less, etc).
Started an assignment to create a logo for the Organization of Visual Communication (the OVC). As Seiji said, its a logo for the OVC, but not necessarily to be given to the OVC. Some terms to work with for the logo:
“trendy / awkward / rebirth / social / helpful”
OVC Purpose: For VC students to get together for VC-related events & topics. Organize speakers to come in. Increase the amount of communication between design students and eat pizza.
Discussed the three different types of logos: WORD MARK, SYMBOL, SYMBOL & WORD MARK.

1. lowercase
2. no wierd characters (!@#$%^&*)
3. replace spaces with “_” or just remove spaces
4. html pages should be “.html” not “.htm”
5. first webpage always “index.html”
6. make sure you check your spelling
